Adult Education

The Primary goal of Adult Education at Temple Beth Tikvah is to develop and nurture a heightened Jewish awareness.  In the past, courses such as Jewish Medical Ethics, Beginning Hebrew, and Jewish Belief after the Holocaust have been offered.  Midrash study, Basic Judaism, Torah study and Bible class are part of an ongoing, wide variety of classes which respond to members' interest and requests.  An intensive course of study, leading to Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah, is offered every two years.  During the calendar year, special guest speakers give individual lectures and workshops.

Temple Beth Tikvah is offering both continuing and new courses this year. Classes are held at TBT,usually in the Library.

Kollel Jewish Bioethics – Mondays, 7:30-8:30 pm

This program consists of seven sessions given by Rabbi Kogan. The focus of the course is on what Jewish Bioethics means in the 21st century. As technology results in evermore complex and difficult decisions for people throughout the life cycle, questions arise about the Jewish view on issues at the beginning and end of life. We will learn from Jewish texts and consider issues that relate to personal and religious decision-making. Class dates and topics are listed below.

Adult Hebrew II —Sundays, 9:30-10:15 am

Adult Hebrew II, a continuation of last year’s beginning Adult Hebrew class, started up again in mid-October with SharonBesser-Moleski continuing as the course’s teacher. This year students will continue to work on their reading skills and earn vocabulary and key prayers. There is still room and time to join this course. If you know how to sound out words, you will have no trouble joining right in. If you are interested in joining the class but need help catching up, please contact Sharon at sbessermoleski@yahoo.com. The course meets Sunday mornings from9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in SharonBesser-Moleski’s 4th grade religious school classroom, lower level of TBT. Classes will meet each Sunday that religious school is in session.
