Cantor Dorothy Goldberg was ordained in May 2005 at the Academy for Jewish Religion. Previously, she had been the student cantor at Temple Beth Tikvah since 2001. She is known to the New Haven Jewish community primarily for leading women's seders, with Rabbi Amanda Brodie, for the Greater New Haven Jewish Federation and in area synagogues. She has performed extensively with small professional ensembles including concerts around Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts with the swing trio and band, MOXIE -- as well as in musical theater and as a soloist. Cantor Goldberg received vocal training from the Manhattan School of Music and has a postgraduate diploma from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, England. Cantor Goldberg is also on the Board of Trustees of the Academy for Jewish Religion in Riverdale, NY.

Cantor Goldberg graduated from Bryn Mawr College and earned an MA in Journalism and Public Affairs from The American University in Washington. Before beginning cantorial studies, she spent 20 years as a writer and public relations consultant, most recently as a partner in Goldberg & Sack Creative Communications. Cantor Goldberg lives in Wallingford with her husband, David Ross Russell, and two children, Rebecca and Adam.

A Guide to Music and Prayer in the Shabbat Service

If you have ever wanted to learn musical settings of prayers - and learn more about the prayers themselves and their role in the Shabbat service - this class will help satisfy your curiosity.  No Hebrew or  musical knowledge is required, just an interest in learning more about the service.  For further information, please contact me at cantor@templebethtikvahct.org

Cantor Goldberg can be reached at the temple at (203) 245-7028 or by email at cantor@templebethtikvahct.org.
