Cantor Dorothy Goldberg was ordained in May 2005 at the
Academy for Jewish Religion. Previously, she had been
the student cantor at Temple Beth Tikvah since 2001. She
is known to the New Haven Jewish community primarily for
leading women's seders, with Rabbi Amanda Brodie, for
the Greater New Haven Jewish Federation and in area
synagogues. She has performed extensively with small
professional ensembles including concerts around
Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts with the swing
trio and band, MOXIE -- as well as in musical theater
and as a soloist. Cantor Goldberg received vocal
training from the Manhattan School of Music and has a
postgraduate diploma from the Guildhall School of Music
& Drama in London, England. Cantor Goldberg is also on
the Board of Trustees of the Academy for Jewish Religion
in Riverdale, NY.
Cantor Goldberg graduated from Bryn Mawr College and
earned an MA in Journalism and Public Affairs from The
American University in Washington. Before beginning
cantorial studies, she spent 20 years as a writer and
public relations consultant, most recently as a partner
in Goldberg & Sack Creative Communications. Cantor
Goldberg lives in Wallingford with her husband, David
Ross Russell, and two children, Rebecca and Adam. |
