The philosophy of our Religious
School is to provide each Jewish student with a quality
Jewish education. We hope to assist each child in
acquiring the necessary tools for a meaningful and viable Jewish
identity. An integral part of this preparation is the
proficiency in Liturgical Hebrew. Our program is designed
to make the school a place where warmth of Jewishness can be
appreciated, studied, developed and cherished.
We are looking
forward to an exciting
2010-2011 religious school year.
Grades 3 - 7, Wednesday classes begin Sept
15 at 3:45pm
Grades K - 10, Sunday classes begin Sept 26
at 9:30am
Our Sunday morning program, which
runs from 9:30 - 12:00,
introduces children to the Jewish holidays, history, Bible
stories and beginning Hebrew. Beginning in third grade, students
also attend on Wednesday afternoons from 3:34 - 5:15. To
contact Religious School Principal Marcia Geringer, call
245-7028. Intensive Bar or Bat
Mitzvah training is provided to all qualified students at a
small cost. Post Bar/Bat Mitzvah classes for youngsters in
grades 8 and 9 are available on Sunday mornings and lead to
Confirmation at the conclusion of the ninth grade year. For
students in grade 10 through 12, our Rabbi holds a
monthly Sunday evening Dinner and Discussion group. |

Temple
Beth Tikvah and its Religious School belong to the UAHC—New
Haven Federation. Our Religious School Principal also belongs to
the National Association of Temple Educators, the Coalition for
Alternatives in Jewish Education and the Principal’s Council of
Greater New Haven. All teachers and Principal are trained in EpiPen Administration. Our Principal also carries certification
in CPR and Medicine Administration.
Provisions for children with special needs are offered. There is
a Special Education Consultant on staff who with the parent’s
permission works one-on-one with students. She also works with
the classroom teachers to best meet the students' needs.
We urge parent involvement in our
Religious School. Each year a family day is held to
promote a religious school experience for the entire family. In
the past, these days have focused on Shabbat, Chanukah,
Passover, and Tu B'Shevat.
Principal Marcia Geringer
can be reached at 245-7028 or email her at
